Ingredients for Crunchy Pakora

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as onions, potatoes, cauliflower, spinach, etc.), sliced or chopped
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions for Crunchy Pakora

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture and whisk to form a smooth and thick batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the vegetables well.
  3. Add the sliced or chopped vegetables to the batter and mix well until all the vegetables are coated with the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the vegetable-batter mixture into the hot oil. Fry the pakoras until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.
