Chatni Samosa Recipe Homemade

Chatni Samosa are a popular Pakistani snack that consists of crispy pastry filled with a savory potato and pea filling, served with a tangy and spicy chutney. Here’s a recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients for Samosas

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Ingredients for Chatni

  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions for Chatni Samosa

  1. To make the dough for samosas, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and oil in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add water slowly and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and add cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt.
  5. Add boiled and mashed potatoes and green peas and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes and then set aside.
  6. Divide the dough into small equal sized balls and roll each ball into a thin oval-shaped circle.
  7. Cut the circle in half, and fold the straight edge to form a cone shape. Seal the cone with a little water.
  8. Fill the cone with the potato and pea filling and seal the top with a little water.
  9. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry the samosas until golden brown.
  10. To make the chatni, blend together cilantro leaves, mint leaves, ginger, green chilies, cumin seeds, salt, and lemon juice in a blender until smooth.
  11. Serve the hot samosas with chatni on the side.
