Chicken Pulao Recipe

Here’s a simple recipe for Chicken Pulao:


  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
  • 2 cups basmati rice, washed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 3 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish

Instructions for Chicken Pulao Recipe:

  1. In a large pot, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until they are golden brown.
  2. Add the chicken and ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is lightly browned.
  3. Add the bay leaves, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and green chillies. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the soaked rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  5. Add 4 cups of water and salt to taste. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Your delicious Chicken Pulao is ready to be served.
